1. Philip Banning Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in a college preparatory program at JWHS.
- Be a major contributor in an athletic program at JWHS and have earned a letter in the program in which he/she participated.
- Be of good moral character and have no major discipline record at the high school.
- If two student athletes have the same scholastic average, the selection committee will determine the recipient based on the criterion in item #1.
- If the student athlete with the highest scholastic average receives a substantial scholarship from another source, the student athlete with the second highest scholastic average will receive the award provided the criteria for the scholarship have been met.
- The recipient shall have been accepted to college and must enter in the fall following graduation. The money will be given to the student upon enrollment.
2. Brumback Family Agricultural Scholarship Available to: James Wood High School and Sherando High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- Be a graduating senior from either James Wood or Sherando High School;
- Attend an accredited institution of higher learning offering a two- or four-year degree, including a vocational institution;
- Intend to study in an agriculture related field;
- Have studied agriculture for at least two years in high school, preferably in his/her junior/senior years; and
- Have a grade point average of at least 2.5.
3. Jim and Eleanor Casey Scholarship Available to: James Wood, Millbrook, and Sherando High School The recipient must meet the following criteria:

4. Eugene B Cooper Scholarship Available to: James Wood, Millbrook, Sherando High School The recipient must meet the following criteria: A graduating student in good standing The student has been accepted by an
accredited college, university, or trade school The student must possess good
character traits The applicant must include an
original essay (no more than two pages in length() to address the reason they
are worthy of the scholarship If the student selected is awarded a full scholarship apart from this award the scholarship shall be returned to the Foundation and replaced in the Eugene B Cooper fund
5. Hunter T Crane Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School and Millbrook High School, and Sherando High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria: - A graduating student in good standing
- Has been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school
- Must possess good character traits
- Must include an essay, no more than 2 pages in length, entitled “My Life Rules”
5. Crosen Family Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School and Millbrook High School and Sherando High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- Participated in Athletics
- Financial Need
- Work and/or Community Participation/Volunteerism
6. Alan Devers Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- Graduating senior from James Wood High School who is preferably a key club member,
- Is service-minded,
- Is in good academic standing,
- And who has demonstrated community service participation acknowledged by school staff.
7. P. Wendell Dick Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School The Recipient must meet the following criteria:
- Highly motivated – will attend and complete college
- Good character
- Sets a good example for others
- Honest
- Positive attitude
- Financial need

- Student shall have maintained a minimum grade pt average of 2.5
- Student shall have applied and been accepted to an institution of higher education or continued learning
- Student shall have financial need

- Student shall have demonstrated leadership qualities
- All else being equal, financial need should be considered
13. James Wood High School Class of 1969 Memorial Scholarship Available to: James Wood High School The recipient must meet the following criteria: - Engaged in school clubs, extracurricular activities or other community service for two or more years
- Provide an essay (no more than one page) titled "How James Wood has prepared me to pursue my dreams and aspirations
14. James Wood Class of 1984 Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- Attendance at an institution of higher learning learning, including a vocational institution
- A James Wood High School graduate based on financial need who has demonstrated a desire to further his/her education
15. James Wood Class of 2014 Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- GPA of 2.75 or greater
- Active in a school club or sport (minimum of one year)
- Essay of NO MORE than two pages on “What Being A James Wood Colonel Means To Me”
16. Mueller-Peluso Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- student must be attending a 4 year
college or university
- must be majoring in Mechanical,
Electrical, Structueral or Industrial Engineering
- based on financial need
- must have demonstrated a desire to

17. Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association Scholarship Available to: James Wood High School, Millbrook High School, Sherando High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria: - Career goal must be horticulture or in an agriculture-related field
- Must have taken at least 3 high school classes in any of the following subjects: biology, agriculture, horticulture, earth science, environmental science or a similar field of study
- Are currently, or have been a member/volunteer of an agriculture-related program through a community service organization, cooperative extension, or similar organization within the past 4 years
- US citizen
- minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and from a leader of one of your listed volunteer organizations

28. Melton F. Wright Distinguished Service Award Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
- A graduating senior who has distinguished himself/ herself through unselfish service to school and community.
- The recipient does not have to be at or near the top of his/her class; service is of greater importance than scholarship in selecting the recipient.
