The recipient must meet the following criteria:
A graduating student in good standing
Must have been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college or university
MUST intend to pursue a career in TEACHING
Brumback Family Agricultural Scholarship
Available to: James Wood or Sherando High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Be a graduating senior from either James Wood or Sherando High School
Attend an accredited institution of higher learning offering a two- or four-year degree, including a vocational institution
Intend to study in an agriculture related field
Have studied agriculture for at least two years in high school, preferably in his/her junior/senior years
Have a grade point average of at least 2.5

The recipient must meet the following criteria:

Eugene B. Cooper Scholarship

The recipient must meet the following criteria:
A graduating student in good standing
The student has been accepted by an accredited college, university, or trade school
The student must possess good character traits
The applicant must include an original essay (no more than two pages in length to address the reason they are worthy of the scholarship
Hunter T. Crane Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood, Millbrook and Sherando High Schools
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
A graduating student in good standing
As been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school
Must possess good character traits
Must include an essay, no more than two pages in length, entitled “My Life Rules”

Alan Devers Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Graduating senior from James Wood High School who is preferably a Key Club member
Is service-minded
Is in good academic standing
Has demonstrated community service participation acknowledged by school staff
Philip Dale Shutters Farley Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Overall 2.5 GPA or higher as verified by JWHS administrators.
Proof of need with family income not to exceed $60,000 unless special conditions apply
Priority given to qualified FULL-TIME students attending (in this order)

Huckleberry Alliance, Inc. Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High and Sherando High School
The recipients must meet the following criteria:
GPA of 3.75 or higher
Graduating senior
Must be accepted to a college or university of higher education
Must provide a list of scholastic honors
Must provide a list of extracurricular activities
Must demonstrate volunteer and community involvement
Must submit a 1000 word essay regarding the impact and effect of being fatherless (fatherless is defined as having an emotionally unavailable and/or physically absent Father)

The recipient must meet the following criteria:

James Wood Class of 1984 Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Attendance at an institution of higher learning, including a vocational institution
A James Wood High School graduate based on financial need who has demonstrated a desire to further his/her education
James Wood Class of 1993 scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Student shall be of good character
Student shall have demonstrated leadership qualities
Student shall have maintained a minimum grade point average of 2.5
Student shall be active in a school club or sport (minimum of one year)
Student shall have applied for and been accepted to an institution of higher education or continued learning—including vocational, training, and technical institutions
Preference is given to students with a parent or grandparent graduating from JWHS Class of '93
James Wood Class of 2014 Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
GPA of 2.75 or greater
Active in a school club or sport (minimum of one year)

Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
A graduate in good standing
GPA of 3.0 or better
Majoring in Education
Brody Michael Foundation Scholarship
Available to: James Wood, Sherando, Millbrook High Schools
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Graduating senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
To have played basketball during high school
Essay titled “What does the phrase “Be Like Brody” mean to you? (To “Be Like Brody” means having positivity and compassion for life and those around you. Finding the best in every situation. Being nonjudgmental because you know it’s okay to be different, but still loving one another because we are all human. Believing in kindness and knowing that “please and thank you” go a long way. It’s about asking someone how they are doing and truly caring about their response, waiting for an answer, hoping to make them smile or at least make their day better. Learning from your mistakes and realizing everyone makes them. And, that it’s okay as long as you learn from it. Laughing everyday. It’s living your life to your fullest potential because that’s what Brody did for 14 years and made such an impact on all who knew him.”)

Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Student must be attending a four-year college or university
Must be majoring in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or Industrial Engineering
Based on financial need
Must have demonstrated a desire to further his/her education
Navy Federal Credit Union Scholarship
Available to: James Wood, Sherando, Millbrook (2 scholarships for each school)
Selection Committee: FCEF Awards Committee and representative(s) from Navy Federal
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
A graduating student in good standing
US citizen, planning to attend as a full-time student at an accredited 2 or 4 year college (or) trade school for the upcoming year.
Write an essay with no more than 500 words, answering the question “ How is having good credit important to your future?”
Attach a resume which includes: Leadership roles and extracurricular activities, community volunteering activities, and any honors/awards you have received both in and out of school.
Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association Scholarship
Available to: James Wood, Millbrook and Sherando High Schools
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Career goal must be horticulture or in an agriculture-related field
Must have taken at least three high school classes in any of the following subjects: biology, agriculture, horticulture, earth science, environmental science or a similar field of study
Are currently or have been a member/volunteer of an agriculture-related program through a community service organization, cooperative extension, or similar organization within the past four years
Must be a citizen of the United States of America
Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
Must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member and from a leader of one of your listed volunteer organizations
Parkinson Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
The recipient will be a graduating senior from James Wood High School with a “B” average
The recipient must be entering college in the upcoming fall in a service-related field such as teaching, nursing, social work, etc.
William R. (Billy) Pugh Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Attending a college, university, trade or technical school
Strong work ethic
Community minded
Display Leadership abilities
Rees Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Student in good standing
Accepted and plans to attend in any degree program at an institute of higher learning
Mary Richard Women in Agriculture Memorial Scholarship
Available to: James Wood, Sherando, Millbrook
Nominating and selection: Foundation awards committee and a member of the Richard family.
The eligibility for application for the “Mary Richard Women in Agriculture Memorial Scholarship” are as follows:
Student in good standing with GPA 2.5 and above
Participated in an AG program for at least 2 years (such a FFA)
Pursue a career in the Agricultural industry
Submit an essay (maximum of 2 pages) answering the following questions.
1- What are your future goals?
2- How do you plan to further your education with the funds from the Mary Richard Women in Agriculture Memorial Scholarship?

Set good examples for others, be honest, and possess a positive attitude
Phyliss Bott Steele Outstanding James Wood High School Cheerleader Scholarship

The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Achieve a cumulative 3.0 overall GPA or higher
Must have been a member of the Varsity Sideline and Varsity Competition teams for two years each
Must provide acceptance letter or course registration documentation for a four-year college, community college or certified trade school
Must be a cheerleader of outstanding character, leadership, school spirit and dedication to the sport of cheerleading

The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Graduating student in good standing
Must have been a member of FBLA for a minimum to two years
Been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college, university or trade school
Must possess good character traits
Must include an essay (no more than two pages) with a theme of "What workplace readiness skills have you learned and honed because of your involvement in business and information technology courses/FBLA at James Wood?"
Winchester-Frederick County Bar Association/Michael M. Foreman Scholarship

The recipient must meet the following criteria:
Deserving student interested in pursuing studies in public service or law
Melton F. Wright Distinguished Service Award
Available to: James Wood High School
The recipient must meet the following criteria:
A graduating senior who has distinguished himself/ herself through unselfish service to school and community
The recipient does not have to be at or near the top of his/her class; service is of greater importance than scholarship in selecting the recipient
Must be approved by the trustees named above
