Brumback  Family Agricultural Scholarship

 

Available to:  James Wood High School or Sherando High School

 Nominating Committee:

Guidance departments of both high schools. 

Selection committee:

 Superintendent of FCPS, the James Wood and Sherando High School principals and agriculture department chairs, and the Foundation president or designee, and the sub-committee of the foundation(Awards committee). 

                                                                                                                                                                    

The recipient must meet the following criteria:

·            be a graduating senior from either James Wood or Sherando High School;

·            attend an accredited institution of higher learning offering a two- or four-year degree, including a vocational institution;

·            intend to study in an agriculture related field;

·            have studied agriculture for at least two years in high school, preferably in his/her junior/senior years; and

·            have a grade point average of at least 2.5.

Cives Steel Company Scholarship

 

Available to: James Wood, Millbrook and Sherando

Nominating and Selection Committee: Frederick County Educational Foundation Awards Committee and a representative from Cives Steel

 

The recipient must meet the following criteria:

·        Career goal must be welding or in a computer aided design field

·        GPA of 3.0 or better

·        Must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member

·        Graduating student in good standing

·        Financial need

·        Essay (no more than 2 pages) “What I Inspire to Be and How this scholarship will Benefit me”

The recipient must meet the following criteria:

·         a graduating student in good standing

·         has been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college, university, or  trade       school

·         must possess good character traits

·         must include an essay, no more than 2 pages in length, entitled “My Life  Rules”

 

 

Jacob Crawford Memorial Scholarship

 

Available to : James Wood, Millbrook, Sherando

The recipient must meet the following criteria:

·        graduating student in good standing

·        been accepted and plans to atten an accredited college, university or trade school

·        must possess good character traits

·        must have participated in a varsity sport for 1 or more years

·        must include an essay 1-2 pages. The topic of the essay “how I will use my life to make the world a better place”

·   graduating senior from James Wood High School who is preferably a key club member,

·   is service-minded,

·   is in good academic standing,

·          Attach a resume which includes: Leadership roles and extracurricular activities, community volunteering activities, and any honors/awards you have received both in and out of school.

The eligibility for application for the “Mary Richard Women in Agriculture Memorial Scholarship” are as follows:

 

      Student in good standing with GPA 2.5 and above

      Participated in an AG program for at least 2 years (such a FFA)

      Pursue a career in the Agricultural industry

      Submit an essay (maximum of 2 pages) answering the following questions.

   1- What are your future goals?

·         A graduating senior from any Frederick County Public  High School

·         Has been accepted and plans to attend an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies to continue in or prepare for Christian Service

·         Must include an essay (no more than 2 pages) that describes what you have done to have a positive influence in your church, community and school

·         Have a grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale

·         Exhibit financial need

·         Must currently attend church and participate in youth or other ministries for the past year or longer

·         Must submit a letter of recommendation from your Pastor or youth leader

·         Must submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, employer, or a leader of an organization where you volunteer your services

·   achieve a cumulative 3.0 overall GPA or higher

·   must have been a member of the Varsity Sideline and Varsity Competition teams for 2 years each

·   the recipient does not have to be at or near the top of his/her class; service is of greater importance than scholarship in selecting the recipient.
